“Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; and in Your book were all written the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them.” Psalm 139:16 NASB

Have you ever stopped to consider just how long you will live? This is a deep topic for contemplation. How is it that some die very young and others live past one hundred years? None of us know the day of our death, but if we did it might just change our minds on how we live our remaining days. Some will die in accidents today, some from illness or sudden heart attack etc. Death comes suddenly so often that we all should stop to consider whether or not we are ready for death and for eternity. This life is a launch pad, so to speak, for how and WHERE we will spend eternity. Far too many folks live by the seat of their pants, in other words, without regard for eternity.

I cannot begin to imagine what it is like for one who thumbs their nose at God and His offer of salvation when they die. What happens to them just moments after death? Well the body is disposed of some way, but the soul lives on for eternity. Just moments after a lost person’s death, they are escorted to a place the Bible calls Torments in Hades. This is located in the heart of the earth and it is very hot since the Bible tells us that there are flames there, BUT, this is NOT the Lake of Fire or Hell. This comes after the Great White Throne judgment of Revelation 20:11-15. In the story of Lazarus and the rich man, in Luke 16:19-31, we see clearly what happens to a lost person. This is NOT a parable since it names specific people and places. This is a true depiction of what lost people face upon death. The Great White Throne judgment comes at the end of time and death and Hades are brought up and those in them will be judged and cast into the Lake of Fire.

As far as I am concerned, I am thrilled that when I die I am CERTAIN that my eternal home will be with God in heaven because I have made Jesus Christ the Lord and Savior of my soul. All people have this opportunity to make Heaven their home as well. Take the time to read the book of John or the book of Romans and they will tell you just how to make this decision and why.
