First let me begin by openly stating that I love the Jewish people enough to tell them the truth that they might be saved. Jews are taught from birth to reject Jesus and are fearful of looking at the historical evidence for themselves. The Old and New Testaments teach that Jews were to take God’s plan of salvation to all the gentile nations. The promise of a suffering Messiah was foretold in Genesis 3:15; 22:1-14, Isaiah 53 and Psalm 22:1-14. God has pursued mankind with an unconditional love since the beginning. Unfortunately, mankind has turned God’s love into a system of legalism. The Law came to show man his sinfulness. Jesus came in the fullness of time and fulfilled the Law and every prophesy about His death for sin, His burial and His resurrection. The problem lies with those who refuse to believe the historical evidence. Spiritual blindness, pride and selfishness often crowd in and push the light of God’s Word out of man’s view. History reveals many times when the truth was rediscovered, accepted by the masses and a great spiritual awakening transformed society such as with King Hezekiah in 2 Kings 18 and Josiah in 2 Kings 22. Why didn’t more Jewish people believe in Jesus the Messiah in New Testament times? We read in the book of Acts, “The next Sabbath nearly the whole city assembled to hear the word of the Lord. But when the Jews (*leaders) saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began contradicting the things spoken by Paul, and were blaspheming. Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said, ‘It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you first; since you repudiate it and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles. For so the Lord has commanded us, “I HAVE PLACED YOU AS A LIGHT FOR THE GENTILES, THAT YOU MAY BRING SALVATION TO THE END OF THE EARTH.” When the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord…”               Acts 13:44-48  (* added)

The Jews became jealous because they saw gentiles being saved by their Messiah whom they refused to accept! If Jews look at the biblical and historical evidence they will see the truth that Jesus truly was and is the promised Messiah and put their trust in Him for eternal life. I hope this article makes you think long and hard as you begin your genuine search for the truth, for the truth truly will set you free. At Olive Branch Church we are committed to teaching the truth of God’s word spoken in love. Come and hear for yourself.                       Pastor Ike
