Do you remember the test that Moses put before the disgruntled leaders of Israel by taking a rod from each tribe’s leaders and Moses placed them in the tent of meeting, before the LORD, but Aaron’s rod was to have his name written on it to distinguish it from the others. The next morning Moses came and took the rods out and Aaron’s rod was very different from the rest. Remember, the rods were all DEAD sticks made into a staffs. Here is the result.

“Now on the next day Moses went into the tent of testimony; and behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi had sprouted and put forth buds and produced blossoms, and it bore ripe almonds.” Numbers 17:8

“For nothing will be impossible with God.” Luke 1:37

If God can take a dead stick and over night cause it to bring forth ripe almonds then, as the CREATOR, He can do ANYTHING! For us to DOUBT this is the SIN of unbelief.

Next, a father brought his son to Jesus to have the demon cast out of him, and again, we find faith/belief as a critical element in the boy’s healing.

“It has often throw him into both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us!” And Jesus said to him, ‘If You can?’ All things are possible to him who believes.” Mark 9:22-23

James reminds us of this critical element once again in this passage. Doubt destroys faith!

“But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord.” James 1:6

Jesus reminded His disciples of this here.

“And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” Matthew 21:22

“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6

This passage points out the essential nature of believing God, first that He IS, in other words, that He exists, and secondly, that He loves to reward those who seek His face.

Aaron learned a very hard lesson when his sons offered strange fire before the LORD and He killed them. Moses gave further instructions to Aaron after the event concerning how we approach our HOLY GOD. To treat God as common or man’s equal results in some serious consequences.

“Then Moses said to Aaron, ‘It is what the LORD spoke, saying, “By those who come near Me I will be treated as holy, and before all the people I will be honored.” So Aaron, therefore, kept silent.’ ” Leviticus 10:3

All Scriptures are taken from the NASB and emphasis is added for drawing attention to certain words.

‘Thus says the LORD, Who gives the sun for light by day and the fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night, Who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar; the LORD of hosts is His name: “If this fixed order departs from before me,” declares the LORD, “Then the offspring of Israel also will cease from being a nation before Me forever.” Thus says the LORD, “If the heavens above can be measured and the foundations of the earth searched out below, then I will also cast off all the offspring of Israel for all that they have done,” declares the LORD.’ (emphasis added) Jeremiah 31:36-37 NASB

In other words, NO!!! He will NEVER leave Israel or forsake His chosen people. When Israel became a nation again, in 1948, the Jewish people are back in the land to stay all the way to the end of the world. Nothing nor no one will ever be able to remove His promise from Israel nor remove them from the land of Israel, not Palestine. For a complete explanation of how the term Palestine came into existence, refer to Zola Levitt’s web site and look under the word Palestine. Then you will realize that there are no such people as Palestinians today. They are people who moved from local nations around Israel and now are trying to take the whole of the land. In my opinion, Israel should have NEVER given up any conquered lands to anyone. The Golan Heights, the Sinai Peninsula, Gaza and the West Bank should have never been surrendered. But unfortunately they were surrendered. God will one day soon bring all the enemies of the Jews to a permanent end. But until that time, He still watches over the Jews as the apple of His eye, His CHOSEN people. Christians should love and support the Jewish people since there is a promise to those who do, “I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” Genesis 12:3 NASB

“I have made the earth, the men and the beasts which are on the face of the earth by My great power and My outstretched arm, and I will give it to the one who is pleasing in My sight.” Jeremiah 27:5 NASB

All good science points to creation, NOT evolution. Evolution is a pseudoscience and is full of holes. The only way it stays afloat is by manipulation of the evidence. There are NO transitional fossils anywhere. Since this is true, many fakes have been manufactured over the years which were ultimately proven to be fakes. When the fossils say NO, it takes a lot of intellectual blindness and dishonesty to keep this thing alive. Isn’t it time that school students were told the truth?

For more information, on a monthly basis, you can get the Institute for Creation Research’s magazine for FREE. Just contact ICR and they will set you up with either the electronic or hard copy of the magazine. It is filled with solid scientific evidence that proves what this verse told the human race thousands of years ago.

This is an amazing examination of methods and motives of pastors that will help all pastors/preachers/teachers stay focused on what matters most in the eyes of God. Ike

BY PRESIDENT CHAS. G. FINNEY.

THE INDEPENDENT.

NEW YORK, SEPTEMBER 7, 1871

The design of this article is to propound several rules by a steady conformity to any one of which a man may preach so as not to convert anybody. It is generally conceded at the present day that the Holy Spirit converts souls to Christ by means of truth adapted to that end. It follows that a selfish preacher will not skillfully adapt means to convert souls to Christ, for this is not his end.

Rule 1st. Let your supreme motive be to secure your own popularity; then, of course, your preaching will be adapted to that end, and not to convert souls to Christ.

2d. Aim at pleasing, rather than at converting your hearers.

3d. Aim at securing for yourself the reputation of a beautiful writer.

4th. Let your sermons be written with a high degree of literary finish.

5th. Let them be short, occupying in the reading not to exceed from twenty to thirty minutes.

6th. Let your style be flowery, ornate, and quite above the comprehension of the common people.

7th. Be sparing of thought, lest your* sermon contain truth enough to convert a soul.

8th. Lest your sermon should make a saving impression, announce no distinct propositions or heads, that will be remembered, to disturb the consciences of your hearers.

9th. Make no distinct points, and take no disturbing issues with the consciences of your hearers, lest they remember these issues, and become alarmed about their souls.

10th. Avoid a logical division and subdivision of your subject, lest you should too thoroughly instruct your people.

11th. Give your sermon the form and substance of a flowing, beautifully written, but never-to-be-remembered essay; so that your hearers will say “it was a beautiful sermon,” but can give no further account of it.

12th. Avoid preaching doctrines that are offensive to the carnal mind, lest they should say of you, as they did of Christ, “This is a hard saying. Who can hear it?” and that you are injuring your influence.

13th. Denounce sin in the abstract, but make no allusion to the sins of your present audience.

14th. Keep the spirituality of God’s holy law, by which is the knowledge of sin, out of sight, lest the sinner should see his lost condition and flee from the wrath to come.

15th. Preach the Gospel as a remedy, but conceal or ignore the fatal disease of the sinner.

16th. Preach salvation by grace; but ignore the condemned and lost condition of the sinner, lest he should understand what you mean by grace, and feel his need of it.

17th. Preach Christ as an infinitely amiable and good-natured being; but ignore those scathing rebukes of sinners and hypocrites which so often made his hearers tremble.

18th. Avoid especially preaching to those who are present. Preach about sinners, and not to them. Say they, and not you, lest any one should make a personal and saving application of your subject.

19th. Aim to make your hearers pleased with themselves and pleased with you, and be careful not to wound the feelings of any one.

20th. Preach no searching sermons, lest you convict and convert the worldly members of your church.

21st. Avoid awakening uncomfortable memories by reminding your hearers of their past sins.

22d. Do not make the impression that God commands your hearers now and here to obey the truth.

23d. Do not make the impression that you expect your hearers to commit themselves upon the spot and give their hearts to God.

24th. Leave the impression that they are expected to go away in their sins, and to consider the matter at their convenience.

25th. Dwell much upon their inability to obey, and leave the impression that they must wait for God to change their natures.

26th. Make no appeals to the fears of sinners; but leave the impression that they have no reason to fear.

27th. Say so little of Hell that your people will infer that you do not believe in its existence.

28th. Make the impression that, if God is as good as you are, He will send no one to Hell.

29th. Preach the love of God, but ignore the holiness of His love, that will by no means clear the impenitent sinner.

30th. Often present God in his parental love and relations; but ignore His governmental and legal relations to His subjects, lest the sinner should find himself condemned already and the wrath of God abiding on him.

31st. Preach God as all mercy, lest a fuller representation of His character should alarm the consciences of your hearers.

32d. Try to convert sinners to Christ without producing any uncomfortable convictions of sin.

33d. Flatter the rich, so as to repel the poor, and you will convert none of either class.

34th. Make no disagreeable allusions to the doctrines of self-denial, cross-bearing, and crucifixion to the world, lest you should convict and convert some of your church members.

35th. Admit, either expressly or impliedly, that all men have some moral goodness in them; lest sinners should understand that they need a radical change of heart, from sin to holiness.

36th. Avoid pressing the doctrine of total moral depravity; lest you should offend, or even convict and convert, the moralist.

37th. Do not rebuke the worldly tendencies of the church, lest you should hurt their feelings, and finally convert some of them.

38th. Should any express anxiety about their souls, do not probe them by any uncomfortable allusion to their sin and ill-desert; but encourage them to join the church at once, and exhort them to assume their perfect safety within the fold.

39th. Preach the love of Christ not as enlightened benevolence, that is holy, just, and sin-hating; but as a sentiment, an involuntary and undiscriminating fondness.

40th. Be sure not to represent religion as a state of loving self-sacrifice for God and souls; but rather as a free and easy state of self-indulgence. By thus doing you will prevent sound conversions to Christ, and convert your hearers to yourself.

41st. So select your themes and so present them as to attract and flatter the wealthy, aristocratic, self-indulgent extravagant, pleasure-seeking classes, and you will not convert any of them to the cross-bearing religion of Christ.

42d. Be time-serving, or you will endanger your salary; and, besides, if you speak out and are faithful, you may convert somebody.

43d. Do not preach with a divine unction, lest your preaching make a saving impression.

44th. To avoid this, do not maintain a close walk with God, but rely upon your learning and study.

45th. Lest you should pray too much, engage in light reading and worldly amusements.

46th. That your people may not think you in earnest to save their souls, and, as a consequence, heed your preaching, encourage church-fairs, lotteries, and other gambling and worldly expedients to raise money for church purposes.

47th. If you do not approve of such things, make no public mention of your disapprobation, lest your church should give them up, and turn their attention to saving souls and be saved themselves.

48th. Do not rebuke extravagance in dress, lest you should uncomfortably impress your vain and worldly church members.

49th. Lest you should be troubled with revival scenes and labors, encourage parties, pic-nics, excursions, and worldly amusements, so as to divert attention from the serious work of saving souls.

50th. Ridicule solemn earnestness in pulling sinners out of the fire, and recommend, by precept and example, it jovial, fun-loving religion, and sinners will have little respect for your serious preaching.

51st. Cultivate a fastidious taste in your people, by avoiding all disagreeable allusions to the last judgment and final retribution.

52d. Treat such uncomfortable doctrines as obsolete and out of place in these days of Christian refinement.

53d. Do not commit yourself to much-needed reforms, lest you should compromise your popularity and injure your influence. Or you may make some branch of outward reform a hobby, and dwell so much upon it as to divert attention from the great work of converting souls to Christ.

54th. So exhibit religion as to encourage the selfish pursuit of it. Make the impression upon sinners that their own safety and happiness is the supreme motive for being religious.

55th. Do not lay much stress upon the efficacy and necessity of prayer, lest the Holy Spirit should be poured out upon you and the congregation, and sinners should be converted.

56th. Make little or no impression upon your hearers, so that you can repeat your old sermons often without its being noticed.

57th. If your text suggest any alarming thought, pass lightly over it, and by no means dwell upon and enforce it.

58th. Avoid all illustrations, repetitions, and emphatic sentences, that may compel your people to remember what you say.

59th. Avoid all heat and earnestness in your delivery, lest you make the impression that you really believe what you say.

60th. Address the imagination, and not the conscience, of your hearers.

61st. Make it your great aim to be personally popular with all classes of your hearers.

62d. Be tame and timid in presenting the claims of God, as would become you in presenting your own claims,

63d. Be careful not to testify from your own personal experience of the power of the Gospel, lest you should produce the conviction upon your hearers that you have something which they need.

64th. See that you say nothing that will appear to any of your hearers to mean him or her, unless it be something flattering.

65th. Encourage church sociables, and attend them yourself, because they tend so strongly to levity as to compromise Christian dignity and sobriety, and thus paralyze the power of your preaching.

66th. Encourage the cultivation of the social in so many ways as to divert the attention of yourself and your church members from the infinite guilt and danger of the unconverted among you.

67th. In those sociables talk a little about religion, but avoid any serious appeal to the heart and conscience of those who attend, lest you should discourage their attendance, always remembering that they do not go to socials to be earnestly dealt with in regard to their relations to God. In this way you will effectually so employ yourself and church members as that your preaching will not convert anybody.

The experience of ministers who have steadily adhered to any of the above rules will attest the soul-destroying efficacy of such a course, and churches whose ministers have steadily conformed to any of these rules can testify that such preaching does not convert souls to Christ.

‘Thus says the LORD, “Go and buy a potter’s earthenware jar, and take some of the elders of the people and some of the senior priests. Then go out to the valley of Ben-hinnom, which is by the entrance of the potsherd gate, and proclaim there the words that I tell you, and say, ‘Hear the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, “Behold I am about to bring a calamity upon this place, at which the ears of everyone that hears of it will tingle. Because they have forsaken Me and have made this an alien place and have burned sacrifices in it to other gods, that neither they nor their forefathers nor the kings of Judah had ever known, and because they have filled this place with the blood of the innocent and have built the high places of Baal to burn their sons in the fire as burnt offerings to Baal, a thing which I never commanded or spoke of, nor did it ever enter My mind; therefore, behold, days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when this place will no longer be called Topheth or the valley of Ben-hinnom, but rather the valley of Slaughter. (My note: This is the place called Gehenna today, and Jesus used it to illustrate the Lake of Fire). I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place, and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies and by the hand of those who seek their life; and I will give over their carcasses as food for the birds of the sky and the beasts of the earth. I will also make this city a desolation and an object of hissing; everyone who passes by it will be astonished and hiss because of all its disasters. I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they will eat one another’s flesh in the siege and in the distress with which their enemies and those who seek their life will distress them.”’ Jeremiah 19:1-9  (emphasis added) NASB
Folks, what we are seeing in the streets lately are the overtones of a new paganism that has made its way into our society, and it does not want to be controlled in ANY way! Code Pink, Hollywood and the Democrat Party are digging in their heels to try and stop the reversal of the last eight years of Mr. Obama’s domination of this nation. President Trump, sure feels good to write that, is aggressively taking steps to pull the plug on the wholesale MURDER of the innocent unborn, sexual perversion will soon be on the agenda, blatant corruption and the freewheeling profanity on TV and radio today. Our nation has been under attack for many decades and their main source has been the education establishment. Since John Dewey entered the educational fray in America, in the 1940s particularly, he set about to bring PROGRESSIVE EDUCATION and LIBERALISM into America’s school system. That was the seed planted that has grown into these riots and personal property destruction we saw last week.

All we have to do is look to the teacher unions to see how entrenched liberalism has become. If there is ANY mention of Christianity it is smacked down immediately and the teacher is usually sent to SENSITIVITY training. It is no problem for public school kids to learn the ways of ISLAM and other cultic philosophies. If a teacher steps out of line with the powers that be, they can be disciplined in many ways including being fired. Their M.O. is, “Our way or the highway.” This is especially prevalent in California public schools. Not all teachers choose to knuckle under and these are the true heroes in schools across the land. The radicals see all their progress toward domination of this nation crumbling before their eyes and they are desperately trying to stop it from happening.

Adolph Hitler  had similar ways of dominating the German population and other nations as he overran them. He called them RE-EDUCATION CAMPS. This was his method of making every person toe the line or be killed.

He was deeply involved in the occult and homosexuality was very prevalent in his inner circles. A good friend of mine, Scott Lively, along with Kevin Abrams, wrote The Pink Swastika, detailing the hidden homosexual society in the NAZI Party. I have never read a book with as many footnotes and references. His goal was to rule the world, but God stepped in and his grandiose plans fell apart, as we see happening in the last few days as President Trump keeps his promises to the American people. And we are LOVING it!!!!!

What we see in the Bible passage is the end of the Jewish freedom as they would be overrun and taken to Babylon for SEVENTY years of slavery all because they refused to listen to the corrections of God through His prophets. What a tragedy! All that King David, King Solomon and other godly kings had done to build up Jerusalem, Judea and Israel will soon lie in ruins, burned and torn down to rubble all because the rebellious Jews stiffened their necks and would not change.

“So now then, speak to the men of Judah and against the inhabitants of Jerusalem saying, ‘Thus says the LORD, “Behold, I am fashioning calamity against you and devising a plan against you, Oh turn back, each of you from his evil way, and reform your ways and your deeds.” ‘ “But they will say, ‘It is hopeless! For we are going to follow our own plans, and each of us will act according to the stubbornness of his evil heart.’ ” Jeremiah 18:12 NASB

Do you see how BRAZEN they were in their reply. They KNEW that their hearts were evil and that their plans were contrary to the will of God. This is where far too many Americans are today, and sadly, far too many PROFESSING Christians. I have heard these words from people I have known in the past when confronted with their deliberate sin. One person said, “I don’t care if this sends me to Hell, I am going to do what I want!” They lost their life not long afterwards.

This is the attitude of the Pagan Revival. When people, who know better, continue in sin they put themselves in a very dangerous place. God has removed many such rebels in history and He will not hesitate to do it today. I wonder how many PROFESSING Christian women have gone to an abortion clinic and taken the life of their baby? This is what the Jews were doing to worship Molech. They placed their children in the idol’s arms and burned to death. I hasten to say that with genuine repentance the LORD can forgive the sin of abortion, but they live with the memory of this choice for the rest of their lives.

I will end with a very haunting and soul-searching verse.

“Therefore, to the one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is (deliberate) sin.”  (emphasis added)     James 4:17

It is all about CHOICES!

“Indeed, who will have pity on you, O Jerusalem, or who will mourn for you, or who will turn aside to ask about your welfare? You who have forsaken Me,” declares the LORD, “You keep going backward so I will stretch out My hand against you and destroy you; I am tired of relenting!” (emphasis added) Jeremiah 15:5-6 NASB

These were the final days before Judah was taken out to Babylon in slavery because they REFUSED to repent and walk in obedience with God. God is soooooooo gracious and merciful to those who walk close to His great heart but there is a moment when He says, “ENOUGH!” I have had it with our lip service, your refusal to obey My words. The end will come to such a people suddenly and violently. We cannot imagine the brutality to the Jews as they marched to Babylon under their cruel keepers. Can you imagine how long it took for them to walk that far and when they arrived, those who survived, they were put into slavery, even Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, Azariah. These four stood tall for God and God blessed their activities and saved their lives from the sentence of death.

He is looking for men and women today who will take their stand for God and for what is right. He waits to be gracious to all who do. Even with our new president, this is no guarantee that America will dodge God’s wrath. All we have to do it to look at the insanity in the streets since the election to see the blatant sin and immorality in America. 60,000,000 unborn babies have been brutally murdered, homosexual marriage is now the law of the land, couples shacking up, between the ages of 30-44, has doubled since the mid 1990s, adultery is no longer seen as a sin in many minds and drug and alcohol addiction is rampant throughout the land. Many more issues could be easily listed.

God is withholding His judgment because of the remnant of godly Christians in this land. If that remnant goes away, then His judgment will come swiftly and violently. Forsaking God is the DUMBEST thing that people can do. It ALWAYS carries harsh consequences!

‘Hear the word which the Lord speaks to you, O house of Israel. Thus says the Lord, “Do not learn the way of the nations,
and do not be terrified by the signs of the heavens
although the nations are terrified by them;
for the customs of the peoples are delusion;
because it is wood cut from the forest,
the work of the hands of a craftsman with a cutting tool.
They decorate it with silver and with gold;
they fasten it with nails and with hammers
so that it will not totter.
Like a scarecrow in a cucumber field are they,
and they cannot speak;
they must be carried,
because they cannot walk!
Do not fear them,
for they can do no harm,
nor can they do any good.”

There is none like You, O Lord;
You are great, and great is Your name in might.
Who would not fear You, O King of the nations?
Indeed it is Your due!
For among all the wise men of the nations
and in all their kingdoms,
there is none like You.
But they are altogether stupid and foolish
in their discipline of delusion—their idol is wood!
Beaten silver is brought from Tarshish,
and gold from Uphaz,
the work of a craftsman and of the hands of a goldsmith;
violet and purple are their clothing;
they are all the work of skilled men.
But the Lord is the true God;
He is the living God and the everlasting King.
at His wrath the earth quakes,
and the nations cannot endure His indignation.

Thus you shall say to them, “The gods that did not make the heavens and the earth will perish from the earth and from under the heavens.”

It is He who made the earth by His power,
Who established the world by His wisdom;
and by His understanding He has stretched out the heavens.
When He utters His voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens,
and He causes the clouds to ascend from the end of the earth;
He makes lightning for the rain,
and brings out the wind from His storehouses.
Every man is stupid, devoid of knowledge;
every goldsmith is put to shame by his idols;
for his molten images are deceitful,
and there is no breath in them.
They are worthless, a work of mockery;
in the time of their punishment they will perish.
The portion of Jacob is not like these;
for the Maker of all is He,
and Israel is the tribe of His inheritance;
the Lord of hosts is His name.’ (emphasis added) Jeremiah 10:1-16 NASB

Wasn’t it great to hear the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, mentioned at the inauguration yesterday?

The purpose of this passage this morning is to remind us all of just who God is and to have no fear of superstitions and false gods around the world. The Hindus worship 33,000,000 different gods, how very foolish. The starve because they consider everything around them as gods when they are NOT! O may the name of Jesus be brought to people who live with the blind eyes brought on by Satan. Let the words of this passage really sink into your hearts today. This is a powerful and moving Scripture passage.

Wise words for us as we take on 2017 and a new president as he seeks to make our nation great again, and as he said in his inaugural speech, with God at the top of all of this.

“Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths,
where the good way is, and walk in it;
and you will find rest for your souls.”
But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’
“And I set watchmen over you, saying,
‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’
But they said, ‘We will not listen.’
“Therefore hear, O nations,
and know, O congregation, what is among them.
Hear, O earth: behold, I am bringing disaster on this people,
the fruit of their plans,
because they have not listened to My words,
and as for My law, they have rejected it also.
For what purpose does frankincense come to Me from Sheba
and the sweet cane from a distant land?
Your burnt offerings are not acceptable
and your sacrifices are not pleasing to Me.”

Therefore, thus says the LORD,

“Behold, I am laying stumbling blocks before this people.
and they will stumble against them,
fathers and sons together;
neighbor and friend will perish.” ‘ (emphasis added) Jeremiah 6:16-21 NASB

“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.” (emphasis added) Matthew 7:13-14 NASB

“If because of the sabbath, you turn your foot from doing your own pleasure on My holy day, and call the sabbath a delight, the holy day of the LORD honorable, and honor it, desisting from your own ways, from seeking your own pleasure and speaking your own word, then you will take delight in the LORD, and I will make you ride on the heights of the earth; and I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.” Isaiah 58:13-14 NASB

Wow! What a wonderful promise, and when the LORD makes a promise it is ALWAYS kept.
