“Therefore, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD. Thus says the Lord GOD to the mountains and to the hills, to the ravines and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes and to the forsaken cities which have become a prey and a derision to the rest of the nations which are round about, therefore thus says the Lord GOD, ‘Surely in the fire of My jealousy I have spoken against the rest of the nations, and against all Edom, who appropriated My land for themselves as a possession with wholehearted joy and with scorn of soul, to drive it out for a prey.’ … “But you, O mountains of Israel, you will put forth your branches and bear our fruit for My people Israel; for they will soon come. For behold, I am for you, and I will turn to you, and you will be cultivated and sown. I will multiply men on you, (current Jewish population of Israel, 6,000,000) all the house of Israel, all of it; and the cities will be inhabited and the waste places will be rebuilt. I will multiply on you man and beast; and they will increase and be fruitful; and I will cause you to be inhabited as you were formerly and will treat you better than at the first. Thus you will know that I am the LORD. Yes, I will cause men — My people Israel — to walk on you and possess you, so that you will become their inheritance and never again bereave them of children.” (emphasis added) Ezekiel 36:4-5, 8-12 NASB

There is so much to glean from these verses. God is speaking through Ezekiel to the Jews in captivity. He is speaking of Israel’s future and tells them a myriad of good things that He plans to make happen for them and the land.

It is interesting that he mentions those who have ‘appropriated’ His land for themselves. Today, this speaks of the so-called Palestinians. I have written previous blogs showing how the name Palestine came into being. In reality, the name came from the Latinized word for the Philistines. These people have long ago ceased to exist and so the people living there today could not be descendants of them. They are, in fact, mostly Jordanians and other groups of people from the surrounding nations.

God speaks of when the land will again belong to Israel. This happened, as the Bible prophesied, in one day, when the United Nations voted to make Israel an independent nation in 1948. His promise is that they will NEVER be removed again. This all will ultimately lead to the battle of Armageddon, when all of God’s enemies will be destroyed. Israel is there to stay!

Since Israel took the land back from those who assumed ownership, they have since made the desert bloom and become massively productive. They currently produce huge amounts of food and other commodities, much of which is sold to Europe. To stand on the border between Syria and Israel today is to see the clear line of green against bleak desert brown. There is a strong reforestation effort currently in the land and it is beautiful to see.

Well, needless to say, Israel is enjoying the favor of God. Every war against them, by her enemies, has ended with their victory. We can rest assured that God will continue to watch over His CHOSEN people as the apple of His eye.

Shalom Aleichem, is a typical Jewish greeting, which in English means, peace be upon you. The response is, Aleichem Shalom, meaning upon you be peace.

Please pray for the Peace of Jerusalem and of all Israel.
