This will be short since I do not have all my fingers available to me at this time.

10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.

11 Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! 13 But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.

14 Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless, 15 and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, 16 as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. 17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness, 18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. 2 Peter 3:10-18 NASB

God promised Noah that He would never again destroy the earth by water, but He does not use water but fire. Here He warns those who will live in the last hours of earth’s existence that it will all be destroyed by flames of intense heat. He then turns to instruct all of us as to how we should live in light of this information, in ways that honor Him.

He also goes on to make us aware that false teachers will be rampant in the last days, and folks we have them running out our ears in our time. It shocks and angers me to hear sheer heresy and blatant apostasy flowing out of so many preachers and teachers today. Far too many of them are on so-called Christian television and spreading their lies around the world. I saw this first hand in Uganda. These preachers/pastors have no means to get proper training for the ministry but many do have access to these TV programs and take what is being said to be gospel truth. Oh that God would reform these teachers so that their TV ministries might be truly training and building pastors up around the world with the TRUTH!

Peter’s final word was for us to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. That should be the motivation for all teaching and preaching. Pastors and teachers MUST teach the unadulterated Word of God and THE WHOLE WORD OF GOD, not just feel good passages. God will hold the ones accountable, under stricter judgment, who neglect this sacred duty. May the Lord bring a truly heaven-sent revival to His blood bought church.
