Praise the Lord!
Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty expanse.
Praise Him for His mighty deeds;
Praise Him according to His excellent greatness.

Praise Him with trumpet sound;
Praise Him with harp and lyre.
Praise Him with timbrel and dancing;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe.
Praise Him with loud cymbals;
Praise Him with resounding cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord! Psalm 150 NASB

The Hebrew Bible has the word HALELUYAH, which we translate as Praise the LORD. This word contains the Holy Name of God, Yah, which our translation denotes it with four capital letters, LORD. This is God’s actual name and must be spoken with great reverence. We should never go around saying Hallelujah flippantly or commonly. This constitutes the actual taking God’s NAME in vain, as per Exodus 20:7. God states that whoever does this will not go UNPUNISHED. This is a very serious issue for all who call Him the LORD of their lives.

It is always a good thing for believers to give praise to God every day of the year, but especially as we stand on the threshold of a new year. How will we CHOOSE to live out our faith in 2015? Will we live out the words of this last Psalm in our everyday lives and in our times of worship? We all know that God is worthy of every expression of praise that we finite creatures can offer. We choose now how the 365 days of 2015 will end. Each day we must begin the day with a time to read the Word of God and pray. Someone once said that if we do not begin our day in prayer, we will end the day in repentance. This is so true. If we try to live a day without God’s clear guidance, we will try to live it out according to our own understanding and this will lead to doing life our way instead of His way.

Joshua once said, “Choose for yourselves TODAY whom you will serve … but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15 NASB

So, for us who are alive today, the words of this last verse are just as appropriate now as they were then. We know how it turned out for the people of Israel, don’t we? The ultimate end for them was returning to seventy (70) years of slavery. God set them free from slavery in Egypt so that they could enjoy close fellowship with Him, but they went the way of the world and destroyed that freedom through blatant disobedience to what they knew God wanted for them.

So, the same lies ahead for us. Will we choose to live out His will or ours? Our will ends up in disaster, while His will leads to life, joy, peace, success etc. etc. etc.

Think on these things!

Love you all and I wish you a Happy New Year and joy unspeakable in each of the 365 days that the new year brings.

” ‘For who would dare to risk his life to approach Me? declares the LORD.’ ” Jeremiah 30:21b

“Sinners in Zion are terrified; trembling has seized the godless. Who among us can live with a consuming fire? Who among us can live with continual (everlasting) burning?” Isaiah 33:14

“See to it that you do not refuse Him who is speaking. For if those did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape who turn away from Him who warns from heaven. And His voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying, ‘Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the heaven.’ This expression, ‘Yet once more,’ denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; for our God is a consuming fire.”
Hebrews 12:25-29

“Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual (well-pleasing) service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:1-2

“Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:18-20

We live in a world today that tries to make God a pal, a buddy or just one of the fellows. There is a lack of reverential awe toward God today shown in the lax way that professed Christians live their lives. Some complain when the Church calls on them to serve in some area in ministry, saying that they don’t have time. Note this last passage which says that we are not our own, we have been purchased with a price, therefore we are to live our lives in such a way that every hour belongs to God and we are ready to do what He wants. When we say we don’t have time to serve God, we are being disobedient to what the Word of God says. All of our time belongs to Him. He should be the one who tells us how to use it to glorify Him. He paid the ULTIMATE price to purchase our salvation, i.e. our souls from the eternal lake of fire, and this God who warns carnal man of approaching His presence since He is a consuming fire, is now our Father and longs for us to approach Him, but with reverence and worship, never flippantly.

More reverence is desperately needed in His church today. We should seek to live pure, holy lives and He provides the indwelling Spirit to make this possible. Sin should never be deliberate. When we use His grace as a means to do as we please and then confess it to be forgiven, we are cheapening His grace.

I had a student once, in my junior high English class, who said to me, “When I want to do something, I simply do it and then ask God to forgive me.” I was taken back by her honesty and thought that this is the way far too many Christians live their daily lives. Oh how we need a move of God’s Spirit in the church today, to bring repentance from this kind of attitude.

“Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.” “Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. You know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin. No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him. 1 John 2:15-17; 3:4-6

No need of interpretation of these verses, the message is crystal clear.

Merry Christmas to all who know and love our Precious God and Savior.

“Hear the word which the Lord speaks to you, O house of Israel. Thus says the Lord, ‘Do not learn the way of the nations, and do not be terrified by the signs of the heavens
although the nations are terrified by them; for the customs of the peoples are delusion; because it is wood cut from the forest, the work of the hands of a craftsman with a cutting tool.
They decorate it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers so that it will not totter. Like a scarecrow in a cucumber field are they, and they cannot speak, they must be carried, because they cannot walk! Do not fear them, for they can do no harm, nor can they do any good.” (emphasis added) Jeremiah 10:1-5 NASB

This is further illustrated in Isaiah when it says, “No one recalls, nor is there knowledge or understanding to say, ‘I have burned half of it in the fire and also have baked bread over its coals. I roast meat and eat it. Then I make the rest of it into an abomination, I fall down before a block of wood!” Isaiah 44:19

Worthless idols! Why is it that so many millions, even billions, of people tremble at the sight of them? In the religion of Hinduism, there are 33,000,000 gods. Amazing! Idols are made by some human craftsman out of wood, stone or metal at some time in the past or they take something found in creation. Do you remember the temple to the goddess Artemis/Diana that Paul had a run in with the people who worshiped Artemis, Diana in the Latin. In verse 26 of Acts 19 we read, “You see and hear that not only in Ephesus, but in almost all of Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away a considerable number of people, saying that gods made with hands are no gods at all.” From this they formed a mob and came after Paul because he threatened their idol making trade. It all comes down to two things in idolatry: money and power to control the masses. They began to chant, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians,” for two hours until they had the mob ready to kill Paul and his companions. In a typical mob fashion, they became so confused that some chanted one thing and the others something different. The rub comes when the town clerk tried to bring order to the mob.

Now, notice in verse 35 where it reads, “After quieting the crowd, the town clerk said, ‘Men of Ephesus, what man is there after all who does not know that the city of the Ephesians is guardian of the temple of the great Artemis (Diana) and of the image WHICH FELL DOWN FROM HEAVEN?’ ”

Did you catch the part that I made bold in the verse? A rock fell out of the sky and they set up a temple to it, named it and worshiped it as a god. It was probably a meteor, according to scholars who have studied it. A meteor worshiped as a god! How ignorant can man be? Pretty ignorant! There is another religion that worships by marching around a stone today.

Paul simply used what the Bible had said way back in Jeremiah, and also in Isaiah, about worshiping man-made and naturally occurring items as gods when there is but ONE True and Living God, almighty YHVH.

“Can man make gods for himself? Yet they are not gods! Therefore behold, I am going to make them know — this time I will make them know My power and My might; and they shall know that My name is the LORD (YHVH). ” (emphasis added) Jeremiah 16:20-21 NASB

“For My people have forgotten Me, they burn incense to worthless gods and they have stumbled from their ways, from the ancient paths, to walk in bypaths, not on a highway, to make their land a desolation, an object of perpetual hissing; everyone who passes by will be astonished and shake his head.” Jeremiah 18:15-16 NASB

The glorious history of Israel is lying in ruins because of the willful disobedience of the leaders and the people. This has happened to all the great nations of the past and will happen again today, IF mankind turns his back on God and willfully goes away from God. Our own nation is slipping quickly down this same slippery slope because of the same thing. May God have mercy on us and turn His people back to the righteous path and bring a great awakening that will sweep millions of lost folks into His glorious kingdom.

5 “To whom would you liken Me and make Me equal and compare Me, that we would be alike? 6 Those who lavish gold from the purse and weigh silver on the scale hire a goldsmith, and he makes it into a god; they bow down, indeed they worship it. 7 They lift it upon the shoulder and carry it; they set it in its place and it stands there. It does not move from its place. Though one may cry to it, it cannot answer; it cannot deliver him from his distress. 8 Remember this, and be assured; recall it to mind, you transgressors. 9 Remember the former things long past, for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me, 10 declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things which have not been done, saying, ‘My purpose will be established, and I will accomplish all My good pleasure’; 11 calling a bird of prey from the east, the man of My purpose from a far country. Truly I have spoken; truly I will bring it to pass. I have planned it, surely I will do it. 12 “Listen to Me, you stubborn-minded, who are far from righteousness. 13 I bring near My righteousness, it is not far off; and My salvation will not delay. And I will grant salvation in Zion, and My glory for Israel.” Isaiah 46:5-13 N.A.S.B.)

(bold added for emphasis)

Other verses that repeat this same fact:

Isaiah 43:10-13; 44:6-8, 9-19, 24-25; 45:5-7, 14, 18, 21-22

Take the time to do a little Bible study for yourself and then you will be equipped when the cult leaders come to your door saying that Jesus is not God. God uses terms of Himself like Savior, Redeemer etc. that are also used of Jesus/Yeshua.

Happy hunting! Dig into the rich treasure of the Word of God for yourself.
