I get very bugged every time I hear America referred to as a democracy. Here is a quote directly from our constitution, Article 4, Section 4.

“The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.”

Over and over again we see “Republic” in our founding documents and even in our pledge to the flag, “and to the republic for which it stands.” The founding fathers were opposed to having a democracy as their form of governance.

So, why do so many conservative talk show hosts and leaders continue to use democracy instead of what is accurate? I am more and more disappointed with our conservative leaders in this land. When they took over congress in 1994, they sat there and did little but seek to appease the liberals who were in the minority. Where are the guts to stand up to these bullies? Newt Gingrich has this kind of guts but very few of the others. It seems that they are more concerned with being re-elected than doing what needs to be done to restore America to her former greatness. I live in hope that I will see conservatives rise up and do battle with those who want to turn America into a socialist nation.

The following guidelines of Mr. Lincoln seem to fit perfectly with the mess that America is now in and Mr. Obama seems to disobey most of these things. Attacking the corporations is a sure fire way of attacking the wage earner. Welfare and entitlements are a sure fire way of destroying initiative and making people dependent on government to meet their needs. This allows many of them to be active in criminal activities full time. Obama has rustled up racial animosity more in this election than we have seen since the sixties. I think that these guidelines should be reapplied to America in general. and particularly in both political parties.

 1. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.

 2. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.

 3. You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich.

 4. You cannot further brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.

 5. You cannot build character and courage by taking away man’s initiative and independence.

 6. You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.

 7. You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.

 8. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.

 9. You cannot establish security on borrowed money.

10. You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves.
